About Kintsugi

Kintsugi (金継ぎ — kin: golden; tsugi: joinery) is a 400-year-old Japanese practice. Instead of hiding the cracks in a broken vessel, you trace them in gold — making the repair the most beautiful feature of the piece.

The philosophy behind it is bigger than the technique: nothing is "broken." Things are simply becoming more interesting, gathering a history, picking up gold lines where they've been changed. It's a quiet, very Japanese idea — and it's no accident that Kintsugi has become a shorthand for resilience, gentle pride in your own scars, and the way the best stories are usually the imperfect ones.

We work with a modern food-safe technique inspired by the traditional method (real urushi lacquer takes weeks to cure — not workshop-friendly). Your finished piece keeps the spirit and the gold lines of traditional Kintsugi, and you walk out with it the same evening.
